October’s Handoff of Nice Weather Continues!

November 2, 2008 Eddie Leave a comment

(Sunday, November 02, 2008) – One is hard-pressed to find any clouds around the Midsouth this morning. Satelitte images and surface reports indicate clear skies with temperatures in the 40s. In Jackson and here in N. Jackson it was 40º. The pre-dawn weather map shows high pressure parked over the Smokies with a frontal boundary stalled across the Midwest.

Today through Election Night (Tuesday Night)

This short range period is expecting the onslaught of nice weather to continue. Daytime highs in the 70s and nighttime lows in the 40s. All weather-making systems will be well east, north and west of us. No weather issues to keep voters away this year in our region.

Wednesday through Saturday

Severe Outlook for Wednesday (D4) & Thursday (D5)

SPC Severe Outlook for Wednesday (D4) and Thursday (D5)

A major trough of low pressure will be digging into the Plains developing a storm that will eventually impact our weather. However, Wednesday will see winds increasing in the afternoon and temperatures trying to reach for 80º (15º above average). This as a cold front cuts across the Plains. Thursday could be a stormy weather day. The Storm Prediction Center has a large area outlined (see graphic) indicating an area where a line of strong thunderstorms could push through producing severe weather. We’ll be monitoring that as we go through the week. The front comes through on Thursday and temperatures will make a quick return to more November-like levels (mid 60s/low 40s). That should leave us with a dry and seasonably cool beginning to next weekend.
