PM Sun Will Crank Up the Heat

July 26, 2008 Eddie Leave a comment

LATE MORNING UPDATE

At late morning (10:21am CDT), isolated strong thunderstorms were moving out of the SE corner of W. TN into extreme NE MS.  Most of the morning rains should be out of W.TN by the noon hour.  Clearing skies will open the door for sunshine and temperature increases.  Highs in the 90s today with the high humidity in the air will result in heat index values in the 100-105º range.

Heat Index (Apparent Temperature) Chart

The Heat Index (HI) is the temperature the body feels when heat and humidity are combined. The chart below shows the HI that corresponds to the actual air temperature and relative humidity. (NOTE: This chart is based upon shady, light wind conditions. Exposure to direct sunlight can increase the HI by up to 15F.)

(Due to the nature of the heat index calculation, the values in the tables below have an error of +/- 1.3F.)

A Comfortable Morning

Daybreak Weather Summary

Only a few passing clouds at sunrise across West TN.  Morning lows were comfortable for July to say the least.  Lows ranged from 57º at Paris, 58º at Huntingdon to 64º at Dyersburg and Selmer.  High pressure over the Midwest will provide a warm day but without the humid air.  That has been pushed south–for the time being.  Highs will be around 90º, much like Wednesday.
