After Few Quiet Days, Look For Storminess To Return Mid-Week
6:50 am - A welcomed reprieve from the storms and rain of the last several days. A delightful weekend is underway. Highs yesterday across West TN were generally from the upper 50s to lower 60s. Today is promising lower 70s.
The week will be a mild one with highs most days in the 70s. We have at least two rounds of stormy weather to contend with this week. Right now, it appears to be Tuesday night and then again on Thursday. Understand that timing and intensity issues remain so you’ll need to be watching the forecasts for the week ahead.
A storm system will be developing over the plains and intensifying as it pushes toward the Great Lakes on Tuesday. This will sling a cold front into our area on Tuesday night. Right now there is a *Slight* Risk of severe storms for the counties along the Mississippi River Tuesday afternoon and evening. The main threat is damaging winds and large hail.
The next system is projected, at this time, to be even more potent. Another plains system will intensify and race NE into the Great Lakes. This will cause Tuesday’s front to lift back north as a warm front putting us into a moist unstable airmass. The next cold front will slam into that airmass late Thursday. Timing again will be fine tuned but a severe weather outbreak could be realized Thursday night.
Of course additional rainfall from Tuesday afternoon through Friday could only aggravate ongoing river flooding around the region.
I’ll update the situation again Monday morning.
Enjoy the day!!!
