Warming Brings Moisture; Mainly Clouds Until Friday

5:00am – A relatively mild morning this morning.  Predawn temperatures were in the 50s everywhere in W. TN and winds were blowing from the south to southwest at 6 to 13 mph.  Skies are mainly overcast.

Moisture is gradually building into the midsouth as evidenced by the overnight increase in clouds.  Other than an occasional peek of sunshine, skies should remain mostly cloudy today.  A frontal system is draped across southern MO.  It is expected to remain north of W. TN.  Daytime heating and the close proximity of the front could spark an isolated shower through tonight.

Thursday will be a lot like today maybe a few degrees warmer – lower 70s.  Mostly cloudy and winds will be up again on Thursday.

By Friday a cold front will be entering the area and will produce scattered showers and thunderstorms. Any thunderstorms that do occur should be of the non-severe variety.  Here is my short-term forecast:

.TODAY AND TONIGHT…AN ISOLATED SHOWER POSSIBLE, OTHERWISE MOSTLY CLOUDY. HIGH 69. LOW WEDNESDAY NIGHT AROUND 60. CHANCE OF RAIN LESS THAN 20 PERCENT.
.THURSDAY…BREEZY AND MILD.  MOSTLY CLOUDY. HIGH 72.
.THURSDAY NIGHT…MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A SPOTTY SHOWER OR TWO. LOW AROUND 60. CHANCE OF RAIN 20 PERCENT.
.FRIDAY…MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. HIGH 66. CHANCE OF RAIN 50 PERCENT.

My thinking is a little more optimistic for Saturday.  Some forecasts are posting a 40% chance of rain.  My thoughts are closer to 20 percent, because I think a little more drier air will make its way into W. TN.  Rain chances could be 40% closer to the MS state line, however.

Finally, Sunday appears to be between weather systems.  Sunday could be a lot like Thursday by comparison.  Mostly cloudy skies highs in the lower 70s.

** Have a great day! **
