Back in the Saddle…Spring Attempting to Make In-Roads

4:45pm, Sunday – Easter falling on March 23rd would normally have seen a high around 64º.  We were a full 10º cooler than that today here in N. Jackson.   Today’s afternoon surface map (below) showed Canadian high pressure from the central provinces into the central plains of the U.S.  The ridge will continue to move east over the next 24 hours giving us the coldest night tonight. If you became ambitious with some outdoor plants, bring them in again tonight!   A warm-up should begin nicely by Tuesday and continue through most of the week ahead. After tonight, night-time temperatures should stay ABOVE freezing through the weekend.

On Wednesday a cold front will be close enough for some clouds and maybe some sprinkles but its advance should come to a screeching halt near the Ohio River.

A storm system will organize over KS and push into the lower Great Lakes by the end of the week.  That will result in the approach of a more significant front.  Moisture will be allowed to increase by that time, so look for rain chances to increase (and maybe some thunderstorms).
