Next Event: Could Be More Snow Than Rain
5:25 pm – You snow lovers who have not given up, hope is not gone! I’m going to be watching for a low pressure to form over the Gulf of Mexico and it could very well be in “the” favored position for a snow event for West TN. I know, I know “major disappointment in the works” is what some of you are thinking. The system hasn’t even formed yet and it is still a couple of days out, but let’s have a little fun with this. If everything falls into place as it appears TODAY, here is what will happen:
-
After a purely raw day today we look for a nice little warm-up with some sunshine on Wednesday. Highs will be in the 50s.
-
Thursday, we see increasing cloudiness. Light rain or snow begins by midnight. The later the precipitation waits to start, the greater the chance it will be all snow based on the atmospheric thermal profile projection.
-
By daybreak Friday morning, 1 to 2 inches of snow will be on the ground in all of W. TN except maybe the Savannah area. There could be as much as 3 inches in the Memphis area.
-
By noon Friday, snow accumulations of 3 to 4 inches are indicated over West TN. The snow tapers off to flurries and the temperature hangs out around the freezing mark all afternoon.
So let’s stop there. Now, dear reader, this is just a possible scenario. MY CONFIDENCE LEVEL ON A 1-5 SCALE WITH 5 BEING “CERTAIN” IS RIGHT NOW AT A “3″. I believe it is one that is on the table of possibilities right now. But as we know a lot can change between now and then. So check back often as I will update this again come morning!
