3:30pm – Upper level low near Chicago rotating clouds south across MO and AR into W. TN. Today’s winds put a bit of a damper on a spring-like day. Gusts here in N. Jackson frequently above 30 mph today (see graph below). Wind advisory scheduled to expire at 6 pm. High temperatures managed the upper 60s today.

That is all about to come to any end. At mid-afternoon the leading edge of a cold air mass was approaching the MS River. Behind the front temps drop back into the 40s. The clouds will be with us into the overnight hours and lows will be in the 30s.
Presidents’ Day will see partly cloudy skies and highs only in the lower 40s. Another front will drop into the area Monday night. Some moisture with the front will bring clouds and possibly some sprinkles and a bit of sleet especially near the KY line.
Tuesday the front becomes stationary across the northern Gulf states. As a large Canadian high moves down into Upper MS Valley and Midwest. We’ll be under the influence of this high for a couple of days before we see some more weather action get started.
Appears we get into a situation where overrunning moisture overtop cold air could pose some wintry precip issues Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Weak disturbance and moisture could generate some rain or snow. Lowpressure will becoming coming out of TX on Friday and will lift its associated warm fronts north into our area.
Given the scenario I’m seeing, prospects of upcoming end-of-the-week storms looks to be diminishing. Storminess will south of us and we’ll have to contend with near wintry weather scenarios. Stay tuned an interesting week of weather down the road.
