A Quiet, Warmer Thursday. Possible Unsettled Wintry Weather for Weekend.
5:00 pm – A simple forecast the next couple of days, then it becomes a real headache.
Main concerns will be potential of wintry precipitation this weekend.
High pressure will produce a mainly clear but cold night tonight as lows approach 20
degrees by sunrise Thursday. The high will move from the TN valley to the VA coast by
Thursday evening. Southerly flow and moisture return will ensue. A cold front will pass
through the area on Friday with rain and maybe a rumble of thunder. The front
pushes to the Gulf coast on Saturday morning. Some overrunning moisture could begin
over the area Friday night and bring a chance of freezing rain or sleet.
As the day wears on Saturday, low pressure will develop over the NW Gulf of Mexico
and lift into NE LA. Meanwhile a cold front from St. Louis to Ft. Smith will be approaching the
areas. The low races NE toward NY state and the cold front sweeps in behind the low. Rain
will be likely on Sunday with rain or snow overnight Sunday night.
High pressure builds in for a nice day back to work of Tuesday.
